Here i will show some news about the upcoming version 1.02.

The gradient texture is now added and it´s possible to animate it.
For now it is only possible to use colors, but in the next stage it will be possible to use any texture as color.
Also some color presets are planed.

The render tree of the material in the video is shown below...

Hello,

About 1.02, could you please tell us a bit more about ?
Would you fix the preview size bug (when the window is > 1:1) ?
A question about motion blur : I have to render an helicopter with animated blades, any chance to get it motionblured with octane ?

By the way, Happy New year !

There will be some bug fixes.
The preview size bug is one of this.

Also the new projection mappings are implemented and the gradient texture on which i´m working on.
With the gradient, you can also use the alpha color channel. For this i create an internal shader group, add two gradiens in it and use a mix node to mix between the input texture and the first gradient with the amount of the second alpha gradient.

About MB, i don´t know. It works for now only on the 8bit/channel output.
It has also some problems with a color bending, but this should gone with a manual white balance in the imager, i hope.
Have tried to make the MB also on the 32bit channel side, but this is realy unstable, maybe it hat something to do with an error i made, will check it...

Great news !

You mean it works with 1.01 ? If so is there any tutorial/doc about that ?

Hey Face! Did you solve the "be able to animate camera aperture and environment rotation" problem? :)

The first one is solved. the second one is on the list because i must rewrite it with the new mapping modes.

The image node is also rewritten with the ability to look the aspect ratio, also the new mapping modes are implemented...

Do you know when the 1.02 will be released ? (I need MotionBlur, at least in 8 bits) ;)
By the way, I remember (I hope I do not release a secret) that during the beta render region was working (pretty well). Any plan to reactivate it ?
About Image Base lighting : if I have an .hdr picture should I use float (the background becomes grey)? About gama : should I set to 1 ?
Kind Regards,

Kind Regards,

Float is only for a grayscaled version of the image. It uses lesser memory on the gpu.
Have found the gamma of an HDR is best at 1/2.2, also 0.4545...
The render region is also in the plan to reactivate it.

When it will come?
I don´t know, there is a lot to do.
Have worked here and there. And that´s the problem.
In the future it will be better to make one change, release it and make the next change, i think.
But this is a little bit boring for me. So i can´t play around ;)
