Hi JimStar,
I get an error when I try to load the octane plugin in the Plug-in manager:

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2023/scripts/others/pluginWin.mel line 316: Unable to dynamically load : C:/Program Files/OctaneRender VR for Maya/2023/plug-ins/OctanePlugin.mll
// Impossibile trovare il modulo specificato.
// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2023/scripts/others/pluginWin.mel line 316: Impossibile trovare il modulo specificato.
// (OctanePlugin)

If I manually locate and load the OctanePlugin.mll I get this error:

// Warning: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2023/scripts/others/pluginWin.mel line 937: Could not load C:/Program Files/OctaneRender VR for Maya/2023/plug-ins/OctanePlugin.mll as a plug-in

I try whit Maya 2018 and 2023 and with different version of Octane 2021. Always the same.
I'm on windows 11.
Always used Octane on other pc and never had such a problem.

Regards
Carlo

Hi Carlo,

Thank you for the post.

It seems some dynamic dependency library files that are required by Octane library are missing.
Would you please make sure if Xgen and Bifrost are installed even though they are not used?

Octane stopped rendering this morning.
Reinstalled maya, then octane. Now can't get plugin to load:

Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2023/scripts/others/pluginWin.mel line 316: Unable to dynamically load : C:/Program Files/OctaneRender VRE for Maya/2023/plug-ins/OctanePlugin.mll
// The specified module could not be found.
// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2023/scripts/others/pluginWin.mel line 316: The specified module could not be found.
// (OctanePlugin)

I've deleted all of maya 2023 multiple times. Tried reinstall octane .19 and .20 with no luck.

Bifrost and xgen are installed.

Seems like a ridiculous problem.. please advise.

Thank you

2.5 Hours later, multiple full delete/reinstalls I tried downloading maya from website rather than using the 'autodesk app' and it finally worked. Not sure if coincidence or it the autodesk app is causing some bad magic. Anyways just a heads up to anyone having similar problem.

Hi Baxley,

sorry for the late response.

Quick question, does OFM used to work before the crash?
Is it okay to reach out via our support `[email protected]` (https://help.otoy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new)?

We would need more information to investigate this issue!

Hi BK

We are seeing this issue as well - Unable to dynamically load OctanePlugin.mll

We moved to Maya 2022, and have moved to zero-install packages across our network for easier deployment. Which means Maya is not installed per-machine, but rather copied to each machine.

The issue is that Octane is not working on these machines. All other plugins work fine.

You mention the requirement for Bifrost and XGen to be installed for Octane to work.

We don't use either plugin, and don't want to be adding them to our environment. We'd rather isolate the requires binaries and add them to the env so Octane can access them.

So can you be more explicit on exactly what libraries Octane is trying to access?

Thanks, clinton.

Hi Clinton,

Thanks for the post.
Would you please confirm if the Bifrost Extension 2.4 or 2.5 is being deployed?
Please check if you also have the Maya 2023 installed as the Bifrost 2.5 is installed by default.

The Bifrost Extension 2.4 can be downloaded from Autodesk site
https://newpossible.autodesk.com/bifros ... 552Y3.html
Please uninstall the Bifrost 2.5 and install the Bifrost 2.4
We have already lodged a ticket at Autodesk developer site to change the dynamic to a static library.

We have fixed this issue, however, it is in RC-Beta mode and we do not recommend for production use yet.

Hi BK

I had been testing with Bifrost 2.5 and based on your reply, switched to Bifrost 2.4 which works!

I'll wrap this into the env we use and go from there.

I greatly appreciate the prompt reply.

Thanks again.

runned in this issue also with maya 2020 + 2023, where newest bifrost (2.5.x) was installed...

please mention the dependancies for the maya-plugins in the docs or in the installer, so avoiding headache for future releases...
