render kernel fail - path tracing

This is happening quite often, occasionally get a 'render kernel fail' other times it shows no errors.
REnderer-
-octane... moving camera around... suddenly stops updating, can still move model but it shows wireframe moving with rendered image frozen (it's not lagging or updating, it just stops).

After i click renderer - viewport 2.0 i can keep working but to get octane to work again I have to close/reopen maya.

Generally using path tracing.

I've tried adding a new kernel without closing maya but no luck.

This happens in heavy and light scenes.

Please advise.

you might be able to force it to start again if you switch the frame cache from 0 to 1 then back to zero. That fixes other similar issues so maybe it'll fix yours as well.
Intel i7-3930K, 64gb RAM, Asus X79 Deluxe mobo, 2x EVGA 780 6gb (for rendering), 1x PNY quaddro k4000 (for display)

have you checked the render engine log in verbose mode? sometimes that can give you some insight
