OT adding Maya to windows system path

Hi,

Some people have been having issues running the Maya Render command in a shell/command prompt because the Maya path has not been added to the system path variable during installation. Here is a helper image to illustrate how to add it manually. This is for windows 8 however once you find the System Properties window these haven't changed since windowsXP. Sorry I haven't had to do this on linux or OSX and don't have access to them right now so I can't advise on those OS's.

Just follow the steps from 1 - 6 to add the path to YOUR Maya bin folder to the system path variable, IMPORTANT NOTE! Don't delete or change anything else when editing this variable, just add YOUR Maya path to all the existing paths.

Once you have done this you should be able to launch a shell from any location (or navigate to any location from within the shell) and then simply type Render to launch mayabatch.

If you need to get a list of option flags type Render -h
If you want the octane specific flags type Render -r octane -h

T.

Thank you for that!
I've switched this topic to "sticky".
