Enable Denoising Performance Slow

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong but when I check enable denoising under camera settings, the renderings (via right-click open viewport) become extremely slow versus just leaving it off. Is that typical behavior? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi lunarstudio,
check "denoise on completion" in Camera panel.

Let's say you're rendering an animation. You only need to check "Denoise on completion"? The other boxes can be unchecked?

Also, for an animation should I reduce the samples (Default 16,000) to let's say "600" and it will still denoise before moving onto the next frame?

Hi lunarstudio,
Denoise on completion means that if it is enabled, beauty passes will be denoised only once at the end of a render in this case at the end of the frame, not at the end of the animation.
Denoise will start when max samples achieved its goal (in this case 600), then a new render frame will start.
Before to render the animation, my suggest is have some test do check how much you can reduce max sample using denoiser to have a qualitatively acceptable image.
With very few max samples, it might make sense to reduce min. adaptive sample or disable it.

Is there any difference between the per camera rollout settings versus the camera tab in the render rollout? Does one override the other when it comes to denoising and other settings? These duplicate tabs have always been very confusing.

Also, how long does the denoising take upon completion? I don't see any indicator in the OctaneRender Viewport that this has been done. Also, it would be handy to have a before and after comparison button or slider.

Hi lunarstudio,
Is there any difference between the per camera rollout settings versus the camera tab in the render rollout?
Camera tab in Octane render setting works using 3dsMax Camera instead of Octane camera.

Also, how long does the denoising take upon completion?...
It depends on GPU performance is denoising and the render size to denoise.
Enabling multiple passes you can easily compare Beauty and Denoised beauty.

I just tried this and the FB turns completely black.
Update: I just discovered that this doesn't work with PMC... These features should be grayed out if PMC is selected.

Hi lunarstudio,
denoiser doesn't work with PMC, it's pure unbiased brutal render.
