Particle age map doesn't work? Tweet

Trying to use particle flow to create some simple smoke. Max relies on the particle age map in a materials opacity to fade particles over time.

The particle age map doesn't seem to be compatible with Octane. I tried the baking texture and didn't have any luck.

Is there any workaround to get this working? I can't imagine how else to do any kind of fading particle without this kind of functionality.

I'm having exactly the same problem.
Need to fade particles over time(age).
Any ideas?

Now that there is vertex color support, this seems like it might be closer to being possible.
