Question about gradient

Hi everyone!
I have a high poly mesh without UV's and I want to darken the botton of a mesh to use it as additional multiply for a diffuse.
Is it possible to do with a gradient map or any other way?
It seems that gradient itself works as a controller and I can't find a way to wire a UV mapping node to it. Or maybe there is other way to make this gradient effect happen?

Appreciate any help!

Hey, paride4331! Exactly what I needed. You used sine wave as a dud for uv projection and transformation. Elegant solution :)
