Automatically convert IES lights to Octane lights?

Is there a way to automatically convert IES lights from the FBX to Octane lights?

I'm dealing with hundreds and thousands of lights (architecture models) , so this would be very appreciated. I tried last time and it did not work, I had to place all the Octane lights individually.

It would probably be easy to write a 3ds Max script that does this, but I don't write code. Thanks!

Hi SamuelAB,
I would not know, the only idea in mind is to use a script converter something like that:
http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/multyconvertor
and convert fbx to VRay; after converting to Octane, using the Octane converter tool in the Render Stetup tools tab.

You're saying that Octane converts Vray lights?

Hi Paride,

I was not able to install the script. When I ran it, it did not convert anything or seem to react.

I find it weird that we need to go regular light > vray light > octane light. Wondering why Octane cannot simply convert regular lights.

Please let me know if there is a special way to install this plugin (I contacted the author, but it was last updated in 2012). any alternative route would be welcomed :)

Thanks!

Hi SamuelAB,
Octane, currently, converts vrayIES light but not photometric IES Light.
The workflow I could recommend is using V-ray converter.
Select your photometric IES Lights then:
Right mouse click> V-ray converter
When all photometric IES Light convert to vrayIES light then use Octane Coverter:
Render Set> Tools> Material Converter> Convert All
