I have an object that has 10 materials and they are all inside Multi/Sub object material.

Goal is to mix using Octane Mix material : Multi/Sub object material in material 1 and some other material in material 2 and use amount. But when I add Multi/Sub object material. to material one my objects turns grey. Any idea Thanks

Hi,

The mix material can't take in the multi/sub object as a material - an Octane Mix Material only accepts other Octane Material Types. Multi/Sub Objects. Could you provide some more details about the look you want to achieve? The look you want to achieve should be possible using a combination of Mix Materials.

We were trying to make pain washing effect. Where one paint color disappears and original object colors appear. We fixed it by applying each mix material to each material. I wish octane will support multi sub and mix one day

That would be nice feature to have, though it would be difficult (if not impossible) to implement a clean integration between multi-sub objects (a 3ds Max node) and mix materials (which only takes in other Octane material nodes). Maybe an investigation into viable workarounds would turn up something fruitful, but the time and effort needed for such an undertaking is currently infeasible. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Hi coilbook,
In some situations, you could be able to solve mixing the materials before using in imulti/sub with previous IDs.
