GeForce GT 750M 2 GB works with octane?

Hello, I've a macbook with two Graphics boards, one of them Nividia GeForce GT 750M 2Gb.
I was wondering if I could use Octane render with it.

I've checked that it need a nvidia graphic card and that's ok but now I saw on google that it would need 4GB.
Does anyone know if it works with 2gb card?

I was really excited about working w/ octane and bought two courses thinking it works w/ ge force cards, didn't know that 2gb is a problem.

Thanks

Hi,
since your Mac is equipped with an Nvidia GPU, you need to use the MacOs CUDA version of Octane, and stay with High Sierra with CUDA 410.130:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/cu ... 30-driver/

Please also note that GTX 750M performs only ~9 in Octanebench, while we suggest a minimum of ~45 for a smooth experience:
https://render.otoy.com/octanebench/sum ... 1x+GT+750M

In addition, the internal GPU is already heavily tasked by system and monitor, leaving only few MB of VRAM for rendering.

So you should need to enable the Out-of-core option in Octane preferences to move part of the scene from VRAM to system RAM.
You lose another 20% or rendering power, but you should be able to slowly render not too complex scenes.

Hi, Thanks for answering.

Really nice information. I'll try everything.

My only concern is about Stay with High Sierra as I've already upgraded to Catalina a few months ago.

Is there no Cuda for catalina? I don't know if its possible to downgrade.

Thanks!!

Nope, Nvidia has abandoned Mac Os X, and the last available version is 410.130 for High Sierra.
If you want to stay with Catalina, you should need an AMD GPU inside an eGPU box connected via Thunderbolt 2/3.

Hi,
personally I have chosen AMD Radeon VII 16GB for my iMac 2017 via eGPU, but also AMD 5700XT 8GB is a good choice, at the moment.
It is a pleasure to work with eGPU under Catalina :D
