I am currently testing the Octane plugin for modo.
Quite often I set up the shader tree with a material at the very bottom and then overwrite the diffuse color with contants or image textures using group masks (item, part, selection set). This way I can get, for example, different colour for a plastic material but when I decide to change the glossiness, I don't have to do it for every colour.
Octane manages to interpret this quite well, as long as I don't decide to recreate my root material with an override (eg. to work with octanes procedural textures). If I do that, everything looks like the root material, all goup masked changes are being ignored.
How can I resolve this, if at all?
