Dual eGPUs, no CUDA devices found?

So, I just got a couple of eGPUs (XG Station 2/Akitio Node with GTX 1080 TI/GTX 1080). When I plug them into my laptop (Kaby Lake HP Spectre x360) via TB3 ports, I can find them one by one, and both plugged in at the same time. But when I have to use them, e.g. in Octane or in CUDA-Z, I get errors about 'no CUDA devices detected' etc. but only when they are both connected. One by one they show up in both Octane and CUDA-Z and I can use them.

So, anybody have any idea what could be causing this? Both GPUs have latest drivers installed, same version. I've tried contacting Nvidia as well, but no luck in getting any reply yet.
