Relative render speed

My project path runs as follows:
Model geometry developed in Solidworks
Rendering in modo (either direct import or poly-refined through MoI

My main system is a quad core Phenom with FireGL 7700

My question is; Model for model would I get faster render speeds using octane if I were to pop a GeForce GTS250 into my other system which is a dual core Athlon?

thanks for any feedback
fred

It really depends on a few things. Mainly if you are using the direct lighting method or ray-tracing, hdri or not, camera angle, material, etc. With a gts250 you might not be too excited. It is faster, but you'd be much happier with a gtx470 at least. Having used a gts250 I come from experience. You "might" have an issue with using an ATI based gpu in your system if it is your main display gpu. Some people have had no problems with it working, and other have not.
System 1: EVGA gtx470 1280Mb and MSI gtx470 1280 in Cubix Xpander for Octane, AMD 945, 4Gb Ram
All systems are at stock speeds and settings.
