just run the files, and read the instructions that come with them from the nvidia site.
they are self installing packages.

No,it's not so simple like you say.Linux its so powerful as its complicated.I dont want to come back to windows.Never.Some one can help me?

just download the drivers and cuda toolkit 3.0 and follow the instructions nvidia provides...

You can't run the drivers with a running xserver, so do ctrl+F1 to get a console login, "sudo init 3" to shut down xserver.
Than cd /path to your nvidia folder/
chmod 775 xyz-nvidia-driver.run
./xyz-nvidia-driver.run
You have to install kernel sources first with your package manager.

To use Octane in Linux, you must install nvidia-cuda-sdk package, and the latest nvidia-drivers.
I wasn't made speedtest to compare Win7 and Linux version, but I thonk it must be same.
