Hi,
since your Mac is equipped with an Nvidia GPU, you need to use the MacOs CUDA version of Octane.
Nvidia has stopped to develop CUDA with High Sierra 10.13:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi ... cos-10-14/
So you should need to install a frash copy of High Sierra, even on an external hdd:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-h ... 4741?mt=12
with CUDA 418.163:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/cu ... 63-driver/
and latest Nvidia GPU drivers:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverR ... 7083/en-us

Please also note that GTX 755M performs only ~14 in Octanebench, while we suggest a minimum of ~45 for a smooth experience:

In addition, the internal GPU is already heavily tasked by system and monitor, leaving only few MB of VRAM for rendering.
Other Mac users in your situation are leaving the internal GPU for system/monitor only, and using an eGPU solution via Thunderbolt port for rendering.
Please, have a look at this other discussion here:

I’m using this solution with AMD GPU on my iMac 2017, and it is working great in both Catalina and Big Sur.

ciao Beppe
