This is the release of Octane X PR8, for Big Sur. Thanks to everyone for testing.
We are still working on Intel IceLake support, which unfortunately is not a trivial problem to solve.
Important: for this build you must be using MacOS 11.2 stable and newer. There were driver issues in MacOS 11.1 for some devices.

- Performance improvements for Navi devices
- Fixed dielectric IOR map not overriding dielectric IOR in most cases.
- Fixed composite material rendering black on M1.
- Fixed layer opacity not affecting direct light.
- Fixed error causing network nodes to fail rendering scenes with composite textures.
- Fixed incorrect rendering of the gradient texture using constant interpolation, if the input has exactly the same value as a control point.
- Fixed filter pass not rendering anything for hair material, and universal material specular / diffuse reflection layer.
- Fixed seams on displacement triangles.
- Fixed dirt radius map.
- Fixed calculating the true geometric normal for OSL shaders using Ng.
- Added support for getAttribute("hit:smoothnormal", ...) for shaders wanting the smoothed normal.
- Fixed upsampler initialization issue.
- Switch to using smooth normal for box mapping and triplanar mapping.
- Fixed support for Quad primitives (smooth normal and UVs were sometimes broken).
- Fixed crash sometimes when using mix material.
- Fixed auto bump map not applied properly on all geometries, and sometimes not updated correctly.
- Fixed issue in scenes with shadow catcher which could result in 25% slower renders.
- Fixed viewport line segments drawn incorrectly.
- Print error messages directly to console on startup.
- Fixed AO texture changes on DL kernel being ignored after starting the render.
- Improved OSL compiler to deal with more complex OSL code.
- Fixed polygon (>4 vert) auto bump map.
- Fixed alpha channel being wrong when the raw pass and pre-multiply alpha in the imager settings are enabled.
- Fixed volume mask causing denoiser output to be slightly brighter when the render layer is enabled.
- Small performance improvements on M1.
- Fixed emission pass including volume absorption data.
- Fixed moving instances disappearing when subframe start is 100%
- Fixed vertex displacement crash.
- Disable Intel GPUs by default if you have AMD or Apple GPUs in your system.
- New icons
- Disabled 3D mouse support on MacOS because it is not allowed on the app store.
- Refresh window menu if the recent file list changed.
