Thanks, team
Really nice release. One question: should the normal map + Chaos node give weird results? Please refer to .gif.

Good work, thanks!

But when will there be the promised bugfix to avoid seeing the polygons on curved surfaces if using anisotropy or noise in the bump channel?
Waited so long for 2020.2 and hoped for a fix

kind regards

Not sure what these errors mean, but I guess you have some old Kepler / Fermi GPUs in your system or your graphics driver is too old.

Currently the upper limit of different dirt textures you can have in a material is 4 and you get this error if you exceed that number. The reason for this limitation is that the dirt calculation requires some data storage per sample and thus needs to be limited.

allocation error: bad allocation
Unhandled exception in render data compilation (bad allocation). Application must restart.

You get this error if you run out of system memory during geometry compilation. What is the sytsem configuration you are using?

This is a very large scene, and it would important that we could work on it in the new version of octane...

Thanks

Dear Abstrax,

You get this error if you run out of system memory during geometry compilation. What is the system configuration you are using?

I have Windows 10 with the latest drivers and 64GB RAM, 3xGXT3090, and a 1080ti only for system graphics.
I can try to check if I am running out of system memory, but this never happened before with this specific scene in previous versions.

These are problems that don't happen on the previous stable version, and since we want to carry on working on these projects in the future,
we need to be sure that we can use the newest version of octane on it.

Regarding the dirt, we get this error message, but does this impact the render of the material, performance, or stability?

Thanks
Kind regards
Filipe

Could you share what's the specific driver version you are using? Currently using this version with an RTX 3090 and driver 457.51 with no issues.

I am using drivers version 461.40, but the scene is quite heavy and fails when connecting a large obj with a large texture to the scene.
It also fails on the first time I render when I open the scene, if I press "Stop" and resume, it renders, but then it fails if I connect or change the connection
to one of the large objects in the scene... I didn't try anything else but if you'd like I can try some other stuff to see if it crashes with other minor changes.

Kind regards

why is it so inconvenient? you can also make a button to automatically add all sources and groups to the mixer.
people and I don't understand how to use your mixer, why make it so complicated?

I agree with Elvissuperstar007 100%.
Please make the light mix UI artist friendly, not just compositor friendly please.

how much time do you need to lose so as not to get confused and add all the layers to a new mixer? when it should take one button click
