The plugin build is not 2020.1.7 ... it is 2020.1.0.7 ;)

The fourth digit is used to versioning the plugin builds that share the same Octane core. Probably once we have a new Octane 2020.1 core, it will be 2020.1.1, and the plugins will be 2020.1.1.x

Thanks,

Any update on the Houdini Solaris plug-in?

Working with Juanjo and Mark G (our Hydra dev) to push this to our Houdini users shortly. We are just wrapping up parity validation with Karma's various lights at the moment.

Congrats for the release,but....Guys you did it back in November and doing it again now:

"Hydra Render Delegate for Houdini 18

Octane 2020.1 for Houdini 18 can operate as a fully functional Hydra Render delegate for the Solaris viewport, with support for USD preview surface and lights exposed by the Hydra API."

Please don't advertise features that are not out, not even an announced alpha/beta.. specially when we have been waiting 6 months for them, its frustrating,I really like Octane and you guys have been doing a great work implementing features, but statements like this makes it difficult to recomend as a serious alternative render back in the office.

Also, could you at least elaborate more on what fully functional means?will it have support for primvars?LPEs? support for curves/fur?mblur?will it support houdini new lighting controls to lock speck/diffuse and shadows for the lights??we just have a screenshot...
Thanks again guys for the hard work.

The thread also states:

"Advanced Display Color Management System | OCIO"

That didnt make it either. Any idea when we'll get OCIO? We need it to load the ACES OCIO configs.

Got a question about volume displacement. Is currently only OSL is available as a displacement texture? Is there any way I can plug in noise as a displacement for VDB?
Thanks in advance!

Yes but probably it won't have the effect you're looking for straight away. Noise texture only gives one value, so for 3D noise you'll need to use 3 noise textures, each one with a different transform at least.

For this, I think we may add a 3D noise that will work right away. But in the mean time, it's necessary to use OSL to join 3 noise textures together.

Thanks for your answer.
Is there a way to do it inside cinema 4d? I see that in standalone there're 3 turbulence noises connected, but can not find any way to connect noises to the OSL node inside cinema?

I want this. Mostly cause of RTX support - at last. Obviously other stuff is great too, but maybe not that needed for me, or i will have to learn to use it first.

Anyway, how do i get it? I see RENT and BUY option on the main page, what is the difference (in the context of Octane Render)? I looked at FAQ, it concerns technical stuff, no word about business side of things. I am still on 4.05 standalone. Will i get standalone version too, if i purchase BTW, or just plugin for my modeling app? Never used plugins before, while it might be beneficial in many ways, i am fine being stuck with standalone for now, as i am used to it. Would need to see the plugin how it looks to know how to operate it, maybe it will be non-issue.

Thank you.

Hi,
I have standalone version which means 4.05 i assume :)
And i would like to use 2020 versions (because of mt RTX cards), if i upgrade my maintenance for one or two years
then can i use 2020 as well? How it works i'm really confused.
Thank you.

How do you enable RTX on a Slave? When my main computer does not have an RTX Card?

Bug?
If i create a layered material with universal base material (with transmission in specular mode, high roughness), two specular layer, one sheen layer and one metallic layer, the transmission effect blur only in one direction...
If i disconnect the metallic layer (or one of the specular layer) the render is correct.
The mesh with the material applyed is a simple polygon with no tickness.
