solved - it was related to long file paths of the textures.

Goldorak wrote:If you have bought Octane 4 (i.e you have a perpetual licence) and want to use the latest versions beyond V4, there is a yearly $199 Enterprise AA maintenance fee (per machine) that uses your V4 existing licences with the latest versions (i.e. Octane 2019), including plug-ins, standalone/slaves for that machine. If you don't re-up, then your V4 licences will still be able to activate V4 builds, but not the newer releases.

In the old days when major releases were years apart, we charged $79 for upgrading standalone + one plug-in -and kept raising the price by the same for new purchases. We made V4 free (at our expense) because we didn't want to keep making Octane more expensive with each upgrade . Now with at least 3 major version upgrades a year, the annual payment approach is the best way to for us to support the product at this pace and keep costs reasonable for new and recurring users alike.

Thanks for the info, but just to be sure, it is not very clear if the all access gives access to the upgrades, or if it is in fact a conversion from perpetual to subscription.
I'll give an example: imagine I buy the all access subscription until Octane 2019 comes out, and then I cancel the subscription, will I be able to still use Octane 2019 perpetually? or will I be stuck back to V4?
One thing is to pay for upgrades for perpetual licenses, the other is to just pay subscriptions until something goes wrong, and you are left with nothing.

Kind regards
Filipe

As it currently stands you are back to v4 if you stop paying subscription, Basically it's same as AdobeCC if you had AdobeCS 6 and then upgraded to AdobeCC, you can use software as long as you pay the rental fee, as your rental fee expires then you are back to nothing, yes oyu can go to Adobe CS 8or Octane V4 in this case) but you wont' be able to use your new files created with Octane 2018, 2019... (Or adobe CC) in older version (v4 / Adobe CS 6) since old version don't have those new features/nodes/material/settings you used so effectively you are out of luck opening your own files.
This system benefits only Company / Seller, very little or no benefit for users (in subscription/rental only modes) sadly :(.

I'm listing my previous bugs here so they dont get lost in old threads:

1) Listed as FIXED, but still happening in this release - Denoiser is creating dark pixels in the top/left 8 pixels

2) Color correction node clamping HDR images:

5) Regression? Universal material with medium is producing more fireflies than the same settings done with a specular material:

6) Vectron surfaces rendering wrong with universal material:

Can you, guys, tell me one more time how many GPUs will I be able to use with all-access ? I am switching all my licenses to just 2 all-access.
We have 1 master with 5 gpus and 2 slaves with 10 gpus each. Will it work?

Thank you.

Otoy Team -
I know this is a WIP to a large degree, but congratulations and great job to you guys at developing and making such an awesome creative tool-set for our art.

Once again I want to thank the developers for the broken displasement and the fact that for 5 years they can not fix it.

Hi there and thanks for the continuous development.

Is there any estimation when the slave / render daemon options will be available for the 2018.1 release.
We as a studio relying on network rendering to push through animations as well as still renders. So upgrading to 2018 unfortunately is not really useful until the network feature is added :-)

Don´t understand me wrong. I am not complaining. Just asking for a rough ETA.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Raphael

First I want to acknowledge the incredible value I’ve received with Octane over the past five years. I’ve not had to pay much for upgrades and I’ve enjoyed great render speeds and features. I’m not crazy about subscriptions, but the currrent pricing is at least reasonable.

2018.1 features a lot of great new tools and I’m excited about it. I applaud the advancements, new utility and novel new features. I intend to upgrade to the All-Access.
