does anyone know the difference between absorption and scattering in volume medium for smoke VDBs? Seems like adjusting black and white for absorption and doing the same for scattering creates identical smoke look. What is the point for two spinners then? Should we use absorption more or scattering when adjusting how light travels through smoke? thanks

Hi coilbook,
the both affect the color of the volume, but scattering affects also on the corposity of the volume.
Look st this image, you cannot have the same response by changing the absorption value:
