at least one reason why this is not checked by default is?
very few people are aware that it smooths the edges of the alpha channel! As a result, spending a lot of time renders poor people get the alpha channel

the option is there to be used with After Effect, but not all the users are working with AE :roll:
Really, I don't get the sense of your complaining, the option is there, if you need it, just use it :roll:
