Sorry - here is the pertinent information:

What is the reason for the 12 GPU limit for the network render?
I have a friend who has 3 systems each with 6 GPU's
Is there any way to upgrade to more than 12 GPU's?

We are working on a number of different options for network rendering in the coming months:

1) Cheaper node license (especially if you are not using standalone and just want a render node)

2) High end network version of OR that can support unlimited render nodes over 10GE boxes designed for render farms. This will be identical to the Cloud Edition we have shown off in the past.

Yes on Windows and Linux GTX 750(Ti) are supported, the same as in versions 1.54 and 1.55.

Those are very good news: +1 team OTOY
I'm glad to see that the commercial team is leastening users requests...

Cheaper node license is the best choice for me: i hope it won't take too long to have some nice offers... ;)

Have a good day !

Yeh, I have another machine that I could use to render with as it has a reasonable card in it, but it wouldn't warrant another full licence. I would say a very cheap additional licence for something that can't be used standalone on the render node (ie basically running two copies of Octane).

+1

My situation as well. I could not justify the purchase of a second full stand alone license just to experiment with and see how useful network rendering might be with my current equipment. I am glad the Otoy Octane team is considering additional pricing structures that will lower the cost of entry into network rendering. My sweet spot for purchasing such slave nodes would be anything below $85.00. At that price point I could leverage my existing equipment and decide if further investment in building an additional box and / or buying more cards and slave nodes was warranted.

I also believe the option to purchase slave nodes at reduced cost can be a useful marketing tool for Octane, especially for new 3d enthusiasts or others such as myself who do not work full time as 3d artists.

Perhaps Otoy might consider a licensing structure in which one free or low cost slave node comes with Octane Stand Alone and subsequent nodes are priced a little higher?

Are there any error message? Can you post any further information?
Does 1.55 work?

Thanks
Chris.

it is encouraging that Otoy is planning additional options for network rendering.
For those of us who purchased the upgrade on July 9th, before there was any mention on this web site of the need to pay extra to be able to use the network rendering feature that was listed for the upgrade, there ought to be some consideration.

I second the poster who requested that the plugin license comes with one free slave so that those of us with two machines (e.g. desktop + laptop) can speed things up a bit.

I appreciate all the work Otoy is doing on the product. It's a fantastic renderer, but like others I imagine, my budget is limited and buying the upgrade was enough of a stretch. At this point it would make much more sense for me to get a faster video card than to buy a new license of Octane. Last year's models can be had for a relatively low price.
