How to make a glitter material

Hi,

I'm looking to make a photorealistic glitter texture such as this without using octane scatter or hair -
https://www.thebestwallpaperplace.com/designers-choice-c13/glitter-wall-store-ocean-blue-glitter-wallpaper-p333
without using octane scatter or hair -
Could anyone walk me through the process to do that ? I have tried with noise in the specular channel, and displacement, but it does not catches the light the way real glitter would and stays overall pretty bland.

Thank you so much for your help !

Have you tried to use also te Bump, or Normal, or Displacement pin?
There is also a flakes.osl script that could be useful to be used in the Normal pin

Hi
I have yes - the closest thing I got to photo realistic is use the chips noise in specular channel + some displacement, and the highlight are made with hair ( small, square and randomized)
How can I find that script you mentioned ( somewhat new to Octane - not sure what to look for )?

Thanks for your reply !

Yes, I think the flakes.osl in your normals channel will give you what you're looking for.

If you are using Standalone, I think you need to download one of the plugin installers to get the OSL scripts. At least the Standalone installer images I have don't seem to have them. In the plugin folder, there should be a resources folder, something like, "res/osl_scripts/pattern/flakes.osl", in the case of the C4D plugin.

In Standalone, you'd add the OSL node, Textures>OSL Texture, then either directly in the Inspector panel, or in the OSL Editor window, use the "Load OSL Code" button to navigate to the script you need.
