I've uploaded a video tutorial to explain how to achieve architectural glass. I have to mention that is not an official solution but a trick to obtain the effect without post prod.
The tip is from ttaberna in this post : viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4997&hilit=architectural+glass&start=0

I really appreciate your effort to sharing your tips. Thank you for all the tutorials.
The thing I don't understand is why is something so simple (light shining through glass) is not possible in Octane pathtracing?
Is it a bug in the kernel? I understand why the direct light engine is restrictive but the unbiasd solution (path tracing) should work without tweaking the opacity of a specular material (what is clear anyway) what results in weired double reflections.

@gzavye
Thanks for sharing that usefull tutorial.

@Refracty
Don't forget that Octane is still in deep Beta status and I guess it will take at least a year until you can use it with all the features that you wish to have for production use.

For now it's just a very nice toy to play around ;-)

Kind regards

Hi,

The reason why this has not worked until the upcoming beta 2.5 release is that it requires the new render kernel, in order not to slow down the engine too much.
It's not hard to add, and it could have been added earlier, but that would have made things quite a bit slower in general, therefore i decided to wait as the new render kernel will automatically solve this.

And it is a groing toy, Alain :)
Thank you Radiance.
I am just asking because I know about the potential of Octane and the great team behind.
I decided to use Octane for a big Archviz production and so it is important for me know more about the features.
Lets hope that the 2.5 release will come soon and that maybe the direct lighting kernel will get a facelift too :mrgreen:
Keep the good spirit up.
