Why is this scene so render heavy?

Hi guys,

I've made this scene and I feel it's being abnormally render heavy. I've had scenes with a lot more in it than this but this one defintely takes the cake. I'm not sure why and I was wondering if may be you guys could help? Am I cramming too many poly's (doubt it) or is it my lighting or textures?

I've attached it to this so you can have a look. I've stripped away some UV textures so I can upload onto here.

It's not my computer either;
I'm running on 2 GTX 980 Ti's

Link to project;

Thanks

Hi adeel 93,
I have revisited your light setup for the tape and now it cleans much faster:

Basically, avoid to have recessed emissive polygons and avoid also emitters inside specular materials.
It's a good practice to use the gaussian node with texture emissions and you can use the emissive node inside the scattering medium node for lighting up the specular material ;)

Man I really wanna understand what you just did because now this thing renders super fast! I'm really not familiar with the techy lingo :oops: what does the gaussian node and scattering medium node do?

Thank you dude! I really appreciate it!

Now the render has gone a little funny when put on PMC.

Hi adeelk93,
I forgot to verify the area lights, here is another version with a different setup for them in PMC kernel:

Probably you have to tweak the values to get exactly what you want, but the scene should be even more faster to clean up.
One of the worst cases for emission noise comes with recessed lights like the four lights in the box, or like the area light from the right that intersects the walls,
Look at this other discussion with an example scene:

About gaussian spectrum and its advantage compared with the classic RGB node, look at this other discussion:
