Hey guys,

Many of you know CGTextures for the awesome library of textures they have
Its logical that they provide some tips'n'tricks for textures artists browsing their website
Here's four texturing tricks from their tutorial page with small description of what's included

Image
Photoshop match color
Remove color variations in photographic textures using match color. Recolor textures from scratch
Use match color on multiple textures to get a very consistent overall color scheme in your 3D renders

Image
Advanced blending in Photoshop
Use the blend-if function in Photoshop to blend only parts of textures. Combine multiple textures together to create new ones
Create a concrete wall and blend moss textures in a realistic way. Use adjustement layer with blend-if to recolor parts of textures

Image
Different wood color using one source
Learn how to not use the Hue filter that lead to bad results. Use the previous advanced blending tutorial to recolor wood textures
Use adjustement layers to control highlights, mid-tones and shadows. Make various color variations using the same source image

Image
Make normal maps using Photoshop
Use the Nvidia normal map filter in Photoshop to extract normal informations from photographic textures
Learn how to have 100% control over the result using overlay layers. Work with seamless textures

Now make some good materials for Octane :D
