Marcus, maybe you guys could create an official comparison for your website, this question constantly comes up, which card should I get, how fast does Octane run on this card, etc. Maybe just get 3 people who own each card to submit benchmark times and slap a table&chart on refractivesoftware.com :)

Maybe we can add an integrated / standardised benchmarking mode in octane, much like the fact that the material ball is also integrated in the software.
People could just hit a button and we would render an integrated benchmarking scene for one minute, average the samples/sec and then automatically publish them along with your gpu specs via octane live (eg like uploading materials to the livedb). This can be the benchmark db and we can publish a sorted table online in realtime.

I can't promise this will be here tomorrow, but we need to do some reorganisation and redesign of the customer area so it could be done along with that in a few weeks...

I have placed it on our todo list, i need to update our material preview scene data soon anyway, so I can add a mode for a benchmark.

What would be the dideal scene ? Maybe a closeup of a material scene preview with a mix of diffuse, glossy and transparent material with some complex procedural and image mapped textures ?

anything you want except car or interior :-)

I think there should be at least an emitter, a 'fake' glass and a 'real' specular in addition to what you mentioned, so all major types are covered.

Cheers,

I think it might be nice to use one of the many beautiful scenes in the gallery. A scene that looks nice and shows off Octane's abilities. Thinking of Cinebench here.
