Hi , I want to simulate the light of a led strip, but I don't know how to set my material, so if anyone more experienced could help?
here is the data: the led shape is cicles with 4mm diameter.60 led cycles per meter give 200lumens. how should I set the led material
regards, joseph

you want to simulate the photometric distribution or the light effect only?

You can create one trasparent disc emitter for each led and attach an ies texture, or a simple (not visible) rectangular emitter
On led strips the light distribution is isotropic.

thank you gabrielefx
what I want is to aply a blackbody emision material to each 4mm diameter disc so that 60 of them will give aprox 200 lumens!
my concern is the power of the light. could somedy tell me what values to use?

Octane doesn't handle exact luminous power: candles, lumens, watts, etc.

You could check with this app: http://www.dial.de/DIAL/en/dialux-inter ... nload.html and then simulate the results in Octane.

which led strip you use , how about the color temperature ?WS2813 LED STRIP , or 3528 or 5050 led strip ?
