I am trying to get Octane Render loaded on my 2009 Macbook Pro unibody laptop. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.3. I followed the instructions and loaded the Cuda toolbox and Nvidia drivers first. I thing loaded Octane Render. I try to launch OR and get an error message saying OR can't load. The message says to check and see if this version of OR is available for your platform. I have uninstalled OR and reloaded a couple of times trying to see if that would fix things. It did not. I even tried loading the xquartz for Snow Leopard and that did not work either. Any help would be appreciated. The MBP has the dual video card combo of the 9400/9600 and I made sure I had the 9600 chosen that has 512 meg of video ram. I desperately want to get OR up and running. Is anyone else running OR on a Snow Leopard MBP?

Hi!
works like a charm here, I simply installed CUDA drivers, CUDA toolkit and finally Octane. We (Mac users) had a problem with multiple cards in previous versions but from 2.2 everything seems ok. I don't know where your problems could come from so I'm afraid I can't help you solving them...

Isn't that always the way? So you had a specific order of drivers, toolkit and OR? I will try again and post a screen shot if I can't get things to work.

Here is what I loaded and the screen shots from today of the error I get each time.

OSX 10.6.3
Macbook Pro 2.66 dual video card
Cuda Driver 3.0.14
Cudatoolkit 3.0
Octane Render 1.021
Octane Render 1.022

The error message reads OctaneRender 1.021 or 1.022 beta 2.2 demo cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the develper to make sure OR 1.022 beta 2.2 demo works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the apllication. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OSX. Click to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.

Problem solved. After looking at the error message in depth I saw I was missing an X11 usr lib so I loaded X11 and that did the trick. I did not see X11 mentioned anywhere on the downloads page as being needed but there you go.
