My camera is a Canon T2i so i think I can make these fairly well and would love to just make my own. Only issue is that my camera doesn't seem to have any sort of 360 shooting setting though... I understand how to string them together and how to do the different exposures and combine them. I've made HDRi images before just not 360 ones...

I've seen people using a metal ball and taking pictures of that, but that to me doesn't seem very good? Or is it just as good as taking the actual 360 shots?

EDIT: Nvm I finally found a good thread about it. I was wrong about the special tripod XD - Good thing too. Didn't want to spend money on making these. I'll be sure to share mine if they're any good :3

You need to get fisheye lens and good panoramic head and lot of time for stitching and testing. I started to use Nikon D800 and Nikkor 16mm for best quallity, but whenever I have more time I take shots with rectilinear lens and stitch it for final 25000 px width spherical panorama, next a scale it down for sharper results.
It would be good to have a special controller for fireing shots, because most cameras are limited to 3 or 5 brackets only. If you'd like to make it cheap buy any of Canon DSLR which work with alternative software called Magic Lantern (Google for it). Sometimes I also use a EpicPro robotic head for extra large panoramas like 30.000 px for my client. There's more on this subject, check it out at hdrlabs.com

If you have time and some photographic skills/knowledge/proper equpiment I recommend you to give a try, if not download my free hdri maps

How do I use the Smart IBL files with Octane Poser Plugin? There are several files for each pack to download. I guess with the Ocatne Poser Plugin, I can only use one of the files in the folder. Which one? Seeme to defeat the purpose of the Smart IBL System. Thanks.

Randall.

Hi Paul,

Here the link to Smart IBL format description: http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/formatspecs.html
and to soft: http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/software.html, (but there are no sIBL loader for Poser or Octane - http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/loader.html).

I just downloaded Alexs_Apartment and could use the big hdr or jpg as the environment texture in the Poser plugin. For the hdr, set the gamma to 1, and for the jpg 2.2. These are lat/long so look great. Dome hdr's will not work.

Thanks. I knew that already. This is a set used in unison. A loader would be needed for Octane I guess. Thanks.
