Personally I think Octane will be much better in many ways compared with Arion render... the main difference now is developing timeframe. I'm sure they've been working on it for more time and with more people.

Arion author is very greedy Spaniard. Even the demo was greed to lay out.

I know which one I'll be investing in at some point in the near future

It has been criticized everywhere for the lack of demo, li, very stupid move what for? avoid piracy? Have a 'Everyday user' price and you'll beat them up...
