Ok, here we are at the end. :o
My idea of apocalypse regards the small world of ants, as a small "meteor lapillus" can destroy an entire population of ants.
I wanted to recreate the scene in time before the destruction, you see the ant mother with a book in hand preaching the end of the world, while other ants carry away the larvae from the ant hill, others listen to the "messiah".
All models were created and mapped by me through Sculptris, assembled in 3DSMax.
The scene has 1,539,616 polygons, each render was finalized in about 2 / 3 hours, 2800x4400 pixels original resolution, 1400x2200 pixels reduced.
I added a slight motion blur by PS in the first image, to create the sensation of movement.
The second image has created a bug that unfortunately was not able to correct (viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12807), so I decided to change the scale zooming of OBJ original while losing the translucency in the body of the ant.
The third image is an overview that shows ants who heard the "Messiah."
I hope you like it :)

Ok, eccoci alla fine. :o

Hey Guys, here's a different take on the Apocalypse theme. It's a track-day car concept I've been working on for a while. It's called the FP-8 Stradale and was designed to house a Ferrari 360 Challenge engine and transmission with a bespoke body and chassis. Really enjoying seeing all the entries, good luck to all.

Blender-model, texture

Octane 2.52-render

Photoshop-textures

16000 s/px about 6Ms/sec, 1 hour 32 min using direct lighting
1850 MB used

Hi all,
this is my second submission: some archiviz stuff.
All textures and models by me (except sofa, table and buddah that i found for free in the net).
Materials submitted in the live DB: marble floor, concrete wall, sofa, red wood, concrete blocks.

Rendered with 2x560 ti in 40mins / 1hour per frame.

Hope you enjoy!

edit: I added an anaglyphic view, using the octane stereo feature.

Here is my final submission.

Poly count 572,365
Render time PMC 8hours. (overnight)
All textures hand made in PS
Modeled in blender with some tweaking in C4D
Color adjustment done in Lightroom and bloom in PS

Inspiration.

I thought of the apocalypse as an event that in some places has already happened. The major thing that changes is the absence of human life. What would happen if humans disappeared from the earth? The earth would slowly take back developed areas and return to its former self.

The concept behind this images was spurred on by seeing pictures taken in Namibia Africa, Where a mining town was suddenly deserted and the desert sands slowly swallowed the it. The images are warm and beautiful and a little eerie and that's what I hope to capture in my rendering.

Enjoy

Hellow everybody. My name is Nikita, and this is my version of apocalypse.
My idea was to connect climatic cataclysm with octane, octane movement and popularization in the whole world.
This is ''Octane tornado" and it's comming! :)

Modelling and texturing in Cinema 4d
Octane render, directlighting (diffuse), 12min and 6min for rendering on my gtx580
And little bit photoshop.

Hope you like it.
