Well, this is my latest entry (and most likely last for this competion, but you never know ;P).

If you are in charge of taking care of a group of people, and something awful happens to them, you would feel bad, sadden, regretful, and even rage, much worse if you are like a god to them.... this is my fallen god, on the day he realized the apocalypse had come and taken his sheep.

The whole angel and the background is done in blender, the girl was from my previous entry. As a background there is only a rgb color (which was one of the things I was trying to achieve, a nice background using no pictures), the moon from my previous entry, some simple mountains and a plane with sss on a specular material and turbulence to create the "clouds". Everything is model from scratch using blender (and tons of tutorials). Hair and wing's feathers are particle hairs with polygons instanced on them, the feather is modeled but rather simplistic. The rig for the wings is simple too, I'm planning on improving it and might try to do a short animation with it someday (whenever I have that rare spare moment).
All rendered in PT, for 6K samples and about 4 to 5 hours using a single 570, they were overnight renders, they've could be done with less, I'm sure, but hey, it was the oven cooking it ;P
Color correction on the exr file, no retouching besides logo. Straight from Octane.
Hope you like it.

for this one I rendered a zdepth channel and had a little fun with it

Some weeks ago i've found this excellent setup for Cinema 4d and MoGraph by Joel Dubin:
http://joelotron.wordpress.com/2011/06/27/microfloaties-rig-for-cinema-4d/
The first question was: "could it works with octane?"
After a little change in the xpresso-node the answer was YES :)
During my playing with Octane i've also found that if a cube with sss-fog with turbulence is moving with the camera, the turbulence seems to be animated ;)
This gives me the inspiration and the possibility to realize something dirty and pessimistic that could be used as an entry for the Apocalypse Competition, but also something different and funny compared to the sometime tedious everyday clean work.
The scene is quite simple, a cube with sss-fog, a couple of spheres with high subdivision, a text object, MoGraph and obviously, the microfloaties setup :)
All the animation is made in cinema 4d and exported to octane for rendering in PT mode at 8 maxdepth till 1024 samples. I have used AppleMotion for adding transitions and text, no colour correction ecc. pure octane render frame at 720p, 2 minutes/frame ~.
I would like to make a vector-pass for adding motionbluer but i've not found the way to do it with Motion so i've decided to exaggerate the DOF effect instead as an alternative.
The sound track is made by me with Apple Garageband.
I've also added 3 materials in the LiveDB, they are "turbulence-fog" and "red-explosion" in the Misc section and "metal-city" in the Metal section. I would like to add the rock also but it's based on a diffusion texture that i've found in my hd and i don't remember where it comes from so i don't no if i can share or not
Hope you like it :D
