Fog volume doesn't appear in live viewer

Hi everyone,

I have a big issue with the fog volume in Octane as it doesn't appear in live viewer at all even thought I reduced voxel size, etc... Also Octane suddenly become very slow when I add a fog volume and often crashes.

I'm using C4D r25.120, Octane X pr14, Macbook pro 16" M1 max, 64gb ram, MacOs Monterey.

I read that it could be the uncompatibility with the apple m1.

Does anybody know a way to fix that problem ? I'm kind of stuck there...

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
please note that OctaneX PR14 has some issues with M1:

- Volumes/vdbs are not working in plugin, only Standalone.
- AI Denoiser and Upscaling are not working
- OSL and C4D Shaders are not supported, and you need to go to c4doctane Settings/C4D Shaders, and disable both OSL and Auto Backing options.
- cannot work with other native plugins like X-Particles or RedSHift
- C4D R26 is not supported

OctaneX is still based on 2020.1.5 SDK, with some addictions, while PC version is evolved at 2021.1.5 SDK.

But we have already published the second alpha version for OctaneX 2022.1-XB2 SDK:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=79999

This is the second OctaneX version in pair with the CUDA SDK, and it will allow to build the first c4doctaneX plugin native for Apple Silicon M1.
We are expecting to have the first c4doctaneX 2022.1-XB3 plugin in the coming weeks, also compatible with R26.

In the meantime, please stay with C4D R25 and PR14, in Rosetta mode, thanks.

ciao,
Beppe
