Congratulations to the winners.

Scales were much better in most of the entries this time and overall quality was higher.

My top 5.

1. Sandtroopers
2. Otoy Pilgrim (Day)
3. Two sides
4. Planet Aurora (day / night)
5. My Portrait In The Metaverse

Next round... the grand prize.. I hope that the winner doesn't make my head explode, because of the incorrect scales and setup. Would that be too much to ask, dear judges?

My entry has managed to take first place on John Carmack’s Top 10, second place in Jules Urbach’s Top 10 and didn't enter in Alex Ross's Top 10, and as a result didn't qualified for the final top 3. I'm a little bit disapointed but hey, that's life! Congratulations for the winners!

tomabobu,

Close call eh :)

That is a great render, to be sure, it is on my top ten.

My Viking burial scene didn't make it no where, not that surprisingly, but what is surprising is that the Sandtroopers didn't get on top tens..

The Sandtroopers were awesome. I'm suspecting there were some copyright issues and that was the reason it wasn't present in any top 10.

Hard to say.. He did ask though is it okay to do that. No reply from the staff, so, hmm.

Oh well, I guess for the next round it would safer for everyone not to use stuff from movies as obviously as that was..

Yes that's exactly right. Everyone loved Sandtroopers. Oculus has made new categories for OTOY VR content outside the RTM competition, so maybe it will go there, e.g. JJ's new UFO render will be going in the BLR showcase.

We definitely want to see it showcased through the ORBX viewer when it is able to load the RTM gallery on the fly.

I take this as a very nice opportunity to really get into making great VR and compare my work against the others - and I learn, loose nothing.

Congratulations to the winners, those are some great images that show the versatility of Octane! I love this playful easy working piece of software! :D

I have to note that I'm a bit confused about the advice we got from John Carmack just before submission time to try to place objects at least 1.5 meters away from the camera for viewing comfort and to avoid any motion sickness. I have noticed that his top 3 preferences are not following that rule and even more, the winner has everything at less than 1.5m to 3m from the camera at most so it's pretty painful to look at. I know it was a just an advice and not a rule for the contest and that artistic interpretation wins in the end but I saw it did influence some people in changing their renders, including myself. :?

See you all in Round03!
