Well, I think it is fair for Linux users, and more time to re-render some images if needed can't be bad for anyone. For my own, I'm working night and day for weeks on my scene. I am a Windows user, but I have had big troubles with Cuda 3.2 drivers and a screen failure. My workstation has been out of order for 3 days and I am late for rendering. So I appreciate one more week !

I started working on the competition from the beginning (modelling, texturing) the rendering is the last part, and it is at this time that my troubles began, so one more week for rendering is fine.

I think that Linux users didn't wait for 2.42 release to start modelling. Added to that, as it is a rendering competition, some people render scenes made of free or purchased models, so they don't require much time for modelling and can participate.

 For the question asked in a previous post, the rules stated "No compositing", so, even if each pass is done in octane, compositing is not fair. I have spent time to use turnarounds to do all required effects inside Octane, and I wouldn't like seeing this rule infringed.

I have the same feelings. I worked for 3 weeks to fine tune the model. The model is used to build the car body. Everything had to fit into the chassis design that makes someone else. There was no time to finish the interior of the car, show it, etc. There was no time for texture, dirt, scratches ...
BTW - aliens are wonderful. Zajebiste.

So, what about compositing a background for your render. Is this allowed? If it is allowed (and some people did it), then why we shouldn't be able to composite parts of renders, that are raw Octane renders by themselves? (what Jaberwocky is asking).

This competition is without a proper moderator (Trinity was disconnected from the Matrix, I assume?) - which is the main cause for misunderstandings.

You should direct your anger toward Refractive Software, not me or Linux users.

I would have thought that given another week would have pleased everyone, giving them the extra time to perfect their renders, add extra details to the models etc.

A) To those who are moaning that they did not have notification of the extra time.Yes i saw it as soon as Radiance posted it a while back because of the dificulty getting the Linux build out.

B) Linux people should have the same opertunity to play with the new build as much as Apple or Windows users.(For information i am a windows user).

C) This competition is supposed to be a bit of fun. Some people are taking it far to seriously....get a life.
