what's next ? An image or animation competition ?

Hi all,

I was thinking maybe for our next competition, we could change the goal and maybe do something different.
We could either continue with a single shot/image competition, either a general one, or maybe instead do an animation challenge.

The upcoming beta2.2 will have more enhancements in this area and there will be several export scripts available for exporting animations from various 3d host apps,
besides the built-in turntable and daylight animation options.

What are the community's suggestions ?
Good idea or not ?

I do not understand the problem of cheating by using real material, because it can be done with a static image, if not more.

(mlody congrats for past competition 2nd place!!)

Are you giving props to camera mapping or not? I don't understand, if as you say this can't be done in animation, why is it a bad idea to do an animation chalenge? :)

Imo is too soon for an animation challenge... It could be: material challenge (once presets are operative, to start a repository?), lighting, or perhaps a themed still challenge this time! I love to watch new works :D haha I'm a lazy *ss for these things

If anyone is interested ina modelling cahllenge at the moment, there is a live SMC marathon going on on IRC at #smc on freenode.net you could then take a given model or set of models and do a rendering challenge based around it...

screw camera map!
animation challenge is a paradigme when the new builds launch with enhancements and better stuff.

Be creative, you can cheat so much in animation so easily, ive done that on the first couple of anims i did on this forum. and its not wrong to cheat. as long as it looks nice.
