I've found a bug in this latest release. I've rendered a glass bottle which has two surfaces applied, an inner and outer surface, which seems to render incorrectly. It renders fine if the glass is all one surface. However the two sided glass worked OK in release 1.4. This same problem happened at some point in last years version but it was fixed. (I think Lewis sent it to you) I also looked at it in Standalone and it has the same problem there. I've attached the scene here. Can you see how to fix this?

Cheers, Alex

This problem could come from the new nested dielectrics feature. You can disable it to match the old behavior in the kernel nodes.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Juan, we desperately need some updated documentation, the manual makes no mention of denoiser and the medium application is massively out of date. We really can't keep posting questions, it's wasting your time and ours.

Yes, a fully updated manual with images detailing features is desperately needed. Now, that is a LOT OF WORK. But while the upfront time investment will be much, the latter free time from not having to answer questions constantly pays off over the long run!

Seeing that it is an incredible amount of work, it might be worth laying some of it at the communities feet. Creating a Wiki style doc editable by registered users here in the forums. So we can all start adding in sections detailing new features. I still think Juan must kick it off of course. Get it started.

The biggest limitation for Octane is the lack of knowledge.

In reference to my previous post. This is what Planetside has done to help get a manual for Terragen done.

Hi Juanjo.

I need help.

I get this message whenever I open my Octane it started today.

Could you help me to solve this problem?

I find it strange because I paid for the update of the V4 to the V2020 on 04/14/2021, how is it possible that my Octane stopped working?

I would be very grateful for the help.

I have a lot of work to do and it happens now.

Carols, contact OTOY support, they are pretty quick in e-mail answering and more in line with that about licenses than Juan is (he has nothign to do with licensing).

cheers

I still see a bug that is triggered when I change something in the Imager - if I change any of the HighLight Compression, Vignetting or Natural Responsive values - when the denoiser is on, the picture becomes very blurry and even returning to the original settings and reloading the scene does not fix this.
