Octane for Unreal Engine 0.49
Changes:
  • Added support for Brushes
  • Added Alembic and FBX options for static scene export to ORBX
  • Added Octane Switch Node Expression for unreal materials. Allows the user to alter parts of their Unreal Materials for rendering in Octane without having to change the appearance in Unreal.
  • Material conversion now defaults to GGX Energy Preserved bxdf

Fixes:
  • Octane material converter no longer takes the "raytracer" path, as this is only intended for "bounced light"/secondaries
  • Added new options to Material conversion BRDF in the plugin settings
  • Fixed issues with transforms in shaders from and too camera space
  • ScreenPosition node works correctly again

Hello, there is a color difference in 4.27 between Octane Viewport and UE4 viewport.

I've been trying to match colors using Ocio either in Octane or UE4 but can't find the way.

Questions:

Is it possible to match colors between UE4 and Octane plugin as it was before?
How can i use Ocio within Octane Render Plugin for UE4?

Thanks for creating great software.

Best Regards

Hello, is there any plan to support landscape brush and instancing anytime soon.
If it is supported, haven't been successful to find the way.

Thanks for creating great software!!

Best Regards

That is odd. Instancing/Foliage is supported and is showing up in my test scenes.
Could you send me your scene so I can figure out what is going wrong?

The problem here are the sunsky systems, not the color system.
Unreals synsky system gives a slight blue tint to the scene, while octane gives a slight pink/reddish tint to the scene

I am not familiar with ocio mystelf, but I believe you need to set the ocio from inside the Octane GUI preference menu.

The octane plugin strives to duplicate color inputs correctly, however the unreal tonemapper and the Octane imager create differences in results.
Effectively, we try to aim to keep the results between the unreal "Post tonemap HDR color" buffer visualisation in unreal, and the default octane imager the same.

If you want to reproduce the default unreal tonemapper you can use the following settings: (turn off eye adaption though)

Thanks so much for your fast answer. Sry for the delay in answering. Tested and foliage works perfectly.

Best Regards

Instanced foliage tested. Baking grass with UE4 is almost impossible, would take AGES. Can't wait for Brigade.
