Rendering anim in octane for lw or modo?

Do you have any experience with octane in lightwave and modo?
Atm I'm deciding between octane for lw or modo. Which is the better intergrated and easiest to use for production?

I'm interested in rendering static geo and instances; also character anims from max (possibly Maya) via alembic/mdd/pc2,

Has anyone found that to be a successful approach and if so, are there any issues? Which is preferable as a data transfer format?

One concern I have is character model updates and passing back changes to lw/modo with altered point order.
Another is changes in material assignments and if that messes anything up.
