A meta data file (.meta) exists but its asset 'Assets/Plugins/Octane' can't be found. When moving or deleting files outside of Unity, please ensure that the corresponding .meta file is moved or deleted along with it.

Can you check if you're online, and have accepted the EULA to share Unity account information with OTOY? I've added a message to the error which should provide users with more information as to what is failing in the future.

According to the call stack you provided, you uninstalled Octane from your project. We probably forgot to clean up the corresponding meta files on removal.

actually, it loaded just fine but, when i hit 'render', it says it's compiling for awhile then, all the screens go blank - i tried waiting but, it did i for 15 minutes - so, i restarted unity and, it's doing it again AND massively slowing down all other programs - tho' only my browser is open

i have a geo1060 with 6G ram

since everything is blank, i have no error messages - it seems to be frozen

also, this is for the unity 'courtyard' octane scene - so, i'm just trying to get it to render before i try my own levels

okay. i can render a simple cube, with no problem - so, it's looking like a matter of level size perhaps

i should be able to render the Courtyard, out the box tho' but, no

so, i'm loading one of MY big levels and we'll see if it's a size thing or is it the Courtyard level

6 GB should be enough for the courtyard scene.
You can check if memory is the problem by going (Menu)Octane -> Settings.
The PBR Settings window should now pop up and show you the current OctaneUnity version and show you your device memory usage.

Could you provide this information for me? Version info and device memory usage?

i stopped trying with the Courtyard and loaded my own level - it renders just fine

but, it's going to be 7.5 minutes per frame so, i need to reduce render times now

i haven't found any tutorial teaching me what to do with all the choices - most tuts i've seen just tell you what the buttons/checkboxes are named but, you're left not knowing if you should use them

like 'out of core' - should i use it? is it faster or slower? i'm not using it

and, 'use priority' - should i use it?
'active' is not checked for my video card - should it be?

and, how the hell do i know which render passes to use? right now, it's rendering slow - they are all unchecked

Hi jakzun,
Out-of-core option should be used when VRAM is not enough, but you lose 10/20% of speed, becausevall the textures in scene are moved from VRAM to slower RAM.
Priority option should be active if your GPU is connected to a monitor.
About Render Passes, it depends from your specific needs, but they can be used to better controll each specific aspect of the rendering.
Eg, with the light passes you can isolate each light (even environment), to better understand how it's contribute to the final image, or even change the power in post.
About you scene, difficult to say from one screenshot, sorry.
