Hi all,
Here is a demo version of AE plugin. It's on beta stage and we think to improve that with user feedbacks. So any feedback will be highly valuable.

Plugin is mostly dedicated to work with external 3d files(ORBX) and render them in After Effect. ORBX is main format which is supported much better. It can has animations, materials, textures and can be editable by Standalone or exported by a 3d host problem with Octane plugin.

Installation
Extract the "Octane-AE.rar" archive content to After Effects directory. Plugin will ask for AE account at first run of OctaneRender effect.

Simple usage
Create a solid and add OctaneRender effect. Give AE user id and password if it ask.
Create a AE camera.
Enable floor or locate layers->Object-1 section. Click enable checkbox. Change shape to ORBX and click File Select button. Find an orbx file to load. Your orbx file should contain a rendertarget or geometry output node to work properly.
OctaneRender effect will react to AE camera to match AE content. Locate your camera to find the your 3D scene.

Performance notes
For fast viewport updates, always work on very low maxsamples(ex. less than 16 samples) of kernels. Otherwise image update will take much time and delay happens.
Use "Fast Previews" for quicker updates.

Edit via Scene Editor
Locate "Editor" button in the effect and click it.
Manage current orbx, lights, kernel, environment, etc.. in there. Add new orbx files by dropping to Scene Editor from windows explorer. Most geometries can be selectable by render viewport or scene tree window.

Orbx files
Plugin can use orbx files as absolute paths or relative to project path. So you don't need to worry about copying your projects. Just keep your 3d files(orbx/obj/etc..) in path of aep file.

Creating orbx files
You can use Standalone or any 3d host software with Octane plugins to export directly orbx files. For Cinema 4D with Octane plugin, you can use Live Viewer window to export any single frame or animated scenes. There is several commands to do this.
1-Edit in Standalone when you have any scene on renderer. But you should set Standalone application from Settings window.
2-Export Package(orbx) for single frame
3-Animated Package for animations

Compatibility for ORBX files
After Effects plugin requires some nodes in orbx to define the connections. Orbx should contains a Rendertarget or Geometry Out node with connected to geometries. So plugin can understand the which geometries will be used.

Not available yet. We wanted to see how much interest is a valuable to make a commercial build and start to sell. I can prepare that after return to work.

Hi,
Just saw the possibility to use Octane Render in AE. Where can I get a version that runs in CS 5.5?
Best wishes,
Thomas
