Hello,
any news about plugin PR11 for lightwave? Really it is a super big pain work with PR8: always loses the license or jumps in demo mode if move to other program in background... Always can render only few frames and demo mode breaks all. Can't switch to modeler, or photoshop, or AE, or other program... must stay on layout and look like an idiot the rendering. Already I wrote about this problem, you answered that all will be ok in a new PR, but the wait never ends... we are waiting a new version like the new messiah...
So... when? Like for windows, is Juanjo that makes the mac version lw plugin? I think I must begin to call him all the hours every night or go to play the drum under his window, in the night of course.
Thankyou
Gianluca

I did a benchmark with my new setup, see screenshot. If any other test can be useful, let me know.

Hello

I hope you will give me some advice, before I do anything I will regret later ;-)

I wish to upgrade to Big Sur, C4d v24, and run the newest Octane X version. But I am afraid to upgrade, because I know it will be very difficult to downgrade to Catalina, if it does not work.

My current system:
Mac OS Catalina
C4d v23
Octane X
iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019 + e-gpu (Sapphire Radeon Rx 5700 Xt Nitro+ Oc 8GB)

I also used Octane X with other plugins like Forrester, X particles and Quixel. They all works with no issues.
Most Greyscalegorilla products also works great. Except for Ceramic materials, the new car paint materials, and HDRI Studio, that will crash C4d and Octane.
I do my modeling in Fusion 360 and import to c4d.

So my question is, if you think it's safe to upgrade?

I love OctaneX!

I very hoped that were not you to make the mac version too... you have so much work to do and was better someone helped you for the macos. In any case thank you for your work (you know, I was joking in my message, but really it is impossible to work on mac with pr8).

@ 3dworks: Thanks for the test!
here is the updated graph:

@ pcb: OctaneX PR11 is working pretty well on MacOs 11.3.1 Big Sur.

If you want to try it first, a solution is to install Mac Os 11.3.1 on another partition, or an external sdd/hdd:

P.S. For C4D S24, you need to keep the R23.xdlib file, and remove the other .xdlib unused files.

Happy Mac GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe

That chart is good to see what I have suspected that my RX 580 was about equivalent to my 5300 M in the 16 inch MacBook Pro Intel looks like I was pretty close - I am a bit surprised that the 6800 and 6900 are not further apart..l I suspect that the scene didn't take advantage of them - One thing this does show pretty drastically is that Apple needs to figure out their GPU strategy on the M series chip machines that response is pretty pathetic - Especially if we can't use external GPU's with them
