Is this possible to upgrade to V3 without standalone upgrade? I pressed the upgrade button and I am able to give an order for upgrading only the blender plug in.
Does this mean that the licensing system changes and I am able to have a license V3 for Blender Octane and remain in V2 for standalone?

No, I don't think you can get around upgrading to V3 SA by purchasing a Blender V3 upgrade. Not to mention, the plug-in doesn't recognize all the features available in V3 SA. Basically, you are throwing money away because you don't really gain anything with the blender upgrade. I bought the upgrade for both SA and Blender thinking I would be able to render smoke and volumetrics....doesn't seem to be working so best to wait until its sorted out. I also have a plug-in for daz which is only V2, but I uninstalled the V2 SA and it still renders so I assume that plug-in has the SA compiled into it.
