Hi,
about Intel GPU not disabled, please, try to delete the oct.dat file, at the following path:
/Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/Maxon/Maxon Cinema 4D R2X_XXXXXXX/prefs/oct.dat

About MacOs 12, there will be a new specific version of OctaneX supporting it, so better to stay with 11.4/5 for now.

I have MacBook Pro 16, with AMD Radeon Pro 5500M, which eGPU I have to buy, to work with Octane X much faster? Both of then will be working?

Hi pobedeen,
yes, if you add one or two GPUs via Thunderbolt 3, you can render with 2x/3x GPUs at the same time.
OctaneX scales linearly, and the boost depends on the AMD GPUs you choose:

Please note that also VRAM amount is important.
The GPU with less VRAM defines the limit of the system, since the whole scene must be loaded in each GPU.
So, if your internal GPU has 8GB of VRAM, and you add a GPU with 16GB, the internal GPU must be disabled, to be able to render with more than 8GB of VRAM.
While, if the scene stays in 8GB of VRAM, you can render with both GPUs at the same time.

Happy Mac GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe

My system is macos Catalina 10.15.7, the graphics card is Radeon RX 580 8 GB, how to use OctaneRender?

You are forced to upgrade to Big Sur, since Radeon RX 580 is a Polaris GPU, only supported in Apple Metal driver from MacOs 11.2 or greater.

Also note that Apple has stopped to develop the Metal driver for Catalina with 10.15.7, so you are limited to OctaneX PR6, while under Big Sur we are already at PR11, and the Apple Metal driver is updated at every MacOs 11 upgrade.

Not sure if this is the place to ask but, what's the going rate for AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Cards?

I know there are stock issues, but prices seem all over the place...

Thanks

With two W5700x, with the chess set procedural, I am getting about 10 seconds on render target PT. That seem about right correct?

I have two 6900xt I will test with tomorrow as well.

Tested on a 2019 Mac Pro, 28 core - two 6900XT. Octane X score is 6 seconds on the chess scene. Dual w5700x was 10 seconds

Thanks rondocap for sharing your results!
Yes, Octane scales pretty well in Multi GPU mode.

Happy Mac GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe
