The Blender app is not extracted from the current installer when a previous, non Octane version of Blender already resides on the computer. In this scenario, only the Octane Server app is extracted. The Octane Blender app will only be installed when the other Blender versions are completely removed.

This appears counter to previous versions of the installer, which also had a problem in that it would actually overwrite a pre-existing Blender version. This made it cumbersome to have multiple Blender versions since the other versions had to be removed or temporarily placed into a disk image if one did not want them overwritten during installation of Octane Blender.

Neither of these behaviors are desired. Can this be fixed so that the Octane Blender installer will properly extract all files when previous versions of Blender exist on the computer, and will do so without overwriting any of those versions? And can we also choose the exact path on our computer where we want the Octane Blender files to be extracted to?

This is not a plugin installer problem. This is an OSX problem. Its "Launch Services" mechanizm is badly designed regarding dealing with multiple applications opening the same document types. Because of that OSX screws up the applications during installation when it registers them in Launch Services.

As a workaround - I think I will be releasing two kinds of installers especially for OSX: automatic one as usual plus just an archive with apps to copy them manually...

Thanks JimStar. A manual installer option would work for me perfectly.
