Could you make a tutorial about the installation. Maybe because I am not the sharpest knife, but I can not install the program, even following the steps. Once the server is running, not installation is opening. The blender.exe that I open from the client does not have Octane in it. Chances are I am doing something wrong, therefore a tutorial would be great. For me, and for those in the struggle too.
Thank you.

How to install Octane Renderer and simple operation. Speed is very fast

Greetings.

Is there any way to remove this awfull noise? Under the beard? It's caused by light emited by part's of mesh and emission material.

Doesnt work anyway. Server prime start working and stops in couple seconds and it says No Render server 127.0.0.1 in Blender

I hoped that I can start use subscription with blender now, since my License no longer working ("thanks" for that by the way), but looks like Octane is no longer Production ready solution

Hello, everything is working great here, Win10 and GTX 1070.

Only problem is that I get this weird bug when using displacement maps. The top part of the terrain will disappear when looking from certain angles, it's kind of a clip end view effect, but I checked that and it's not the problem. It's not a problem from the map, since as soon as I move the camera the glitch will move around the surface of the terrain until it disappears.
Here are some examples:

I'd a similar issue with a previous version. Now if I right-click in the server prime tray icon, it just crashes. So just run the server exe and leave it running in the background. Inside Blender Octane choose to see log and activation status in the Octane render settings tab, that might give some clue.

Also make sure no firewall is blocking your LAN traffic.

Not connected/No Render server at address 127.0.0.1 error

Postby gwertz » Mon Feb 10, 2020 3:44 am

Been using Blender for a bit and want to check out Octane.

Using Win10 & GeForce GTX 1070(version 442.19) and the Add-on is checked in the Preferences of Blender.

I'm getting the Not connected/No Render server at address 127.0.0.1 error.

Ran both downloads in the order directed by the post. Did an uninstall and reinstall on both just to see...no such luck.

I read some of the comments and looks like some are good and some aren't. Any thoughts around the error?

Thank you in advance!

Greg.

@gwertz
Hi, my last tests on Windows was fine but I am mainly on Linux.
Is the server running in the system tray?
It is may better when you post this in the Blender Plugin area of the forum to get more attention.

Cheers, mib

That's a known issue of Texture Displacement. You can try avoiding it subdividing the base mesh. My advice would be to use Vertex Dispalcement instead, which generates "real" polygons.
