Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new test version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®: OctaneRender™ 2020.2
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 64-bit on Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems.


To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 387 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Changes since 17.29:

  • Integrated the 2020.2 XB3 engine. Implemented the support of the new Octane engine's OCIO capabilities.

Installed OctaneRender_Studio_2020_2_XB3_win.exe license fine
Installed OctaneRender_VR_for_Maya_2020.2xb3_-_19.0-beta.exe says license not fine.

We are unable to replicate it.
Would you please try the Active button from the Render settings dialog> OctaneLive tab?

Thanks for the help BK.

I tried the "activate" button and got the same denial.

I believe there is a problem with my license. I've reached out to license@ for help with that. Thank you for your time. I know you are all very busy.



FYI Octane 2020.1 has no issues as well. Only 2020.2 is broken for me.

Lots of help from everyone at otoy. Thanks. But this problem persists. I'll wait to see if it persists with RC1. Don't waste any more time on me until then. I can rejoin testing then and see if it's more than an anomaly.

I have the same licensing issue.

This is the error from the Script Editor after pressing the activate button.

You'll see the update as soon as the 2020.2 SDK settles finally.
Currently there are too many structural changes in AOVs with almost every new 2020.2-RC SDK release - looks like the engine team is still in the stage of developing the final structure of this feature. Such big changes would make every next 2020.2-RC plugin's scenes badly incompatible with the previous ones. For example it's impossible in Maya to change the node-type names, and there is no way to properly auto-translate the scenes saved with previous type-names: e.g. this is why you've still got octaneFloatTexture in Maya instead of its changed Greyscale Texture name in standalone. So I would like for the plugin to end up with all the AOVs' nodes types named exactly the same as they end up to be named in standalone...
As soon as I see such significant AOV changes finally settled in at least two subsequent SDK releases - I'll release the next 2020.2 plugin immediately.
