Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new OctaneRender™ for Maya® Version 2020.1
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 64-bit on Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems.

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 419.17 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Changes since version 17.16:

  • Implemented a previously requested feature: the shelf buttons for all Octane materials are now grouped.
  • Implemented workaround for textures' attributes' animation sometimes not exported/baked when Maya-native nodes are connected to these plugs.
  • Fixed the LiveDB import error for vertex displacement mixer.

Hi Jim,

A quick question maybe a request, I was using C4D plug and the option to create volume cubes presets with osl script for displacement on the VDB would be great to have something similar for quick setup the maya fluid grid is terrible and take ages to setup something similar. like the video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZqCPSkfQbo&t=340s

Is not a big trouble cause personally I always use VDB generate on Houdini and add as proxy on the scenes, but I was wondering for quick FX would be great.

Best,
JO

Is it possible to restore support for Maya 2014, just like support for 3DS Max 2014 was restored?

Four current/previous versions of Maya are supported at any time by any version of OctaneRender for Maya. For archaic Maya versions please feel free to use older plugin versions, or consider to update Maya to one of recent versions. There are too many significant API changes from old Maya versions incompatible with current plugin's code/features.
