Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new test version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®: OctaneRender™ 2020.1
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 64-bit on Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems.

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 387 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Changelog and the installers for Octane Standalone 2020.1 are here:
OctaneRender Standalone 2020.1 RC2

Changes since versions 17.10:

  • Integrated the 2020.1 RC2 engine.
  • Re-implemented the light node to use engine's native quad and sphere lights.

KNOWN ISSUES:
  • "CUDA error 700" and other CUDA errors are expected to happen from time to time: these are the Octane engine's bugs. Should be fixed with later SDK/Standalone versions...
  • Due to some inconsistency on the rendering engine level the builtin-scriptgraph nodes are not going to be present in the plugin. At least at this stage.

Also, notice how the program icon is different.
And, windows reported unknown publisher error before this error. Hope this helps...

This is definitely some file-server error - you are just downloading a corrupted file.
I've just re-uploaded this Windows VR installer and changed the link to it here. Please download it again using the link in the header-post - hope this will work for you.

Gidday Jim,
Running this plugin on Maya 2020.1 and standalone RC2 on Windows 10

Imported a VDB and assigned a volume mat... crashes on render. Probably user error but can't figure out what it is.

Attached the file to see if it happens on your end.

Thanks

Peter

I can't download your file, it fails in the middle every time... Could you try to re-upload it?

Thanks
OK not getting crashes but I might be hooking it up incorrectly.

I have attached a volume medium the same way as I would in the stand-alone and no change in absorbtion, scattering, density seems to effect it.

Can you please try it mate?

Is there a way to hook up a sequence of vdbs... I see the time setting in thew shape node but no way to import multiple vdbs.

Any help appreciated.

Peter

I can reproduce the crash.
This is not a plugin's problem. The crash is happening inside the Octane rendering engine's SDK - it "does not like" something in this VDB file and crashes during the VDB node evaluation deeply inside of octane.dll callstack... Standalone does not crash with this file though, only the Octane engine SDK. I remember I already met similar issue and already reported it to the engine team some time ago - looks like it's still not fixed though.
This can't be fixed on the plugin level. You need to report it to the standalone team.
